We came to Zanzibar in 2021 and quickly realized that we couldn't find a true Neapolitan pizza. This was a bit of a problem for us—we simply can't live without it!
In January 2022, we decided to open our first spot, Ciao Paje, in one of Zanzibar's most laid-back towns. A year later, we opened Ciao Migombani, near Stone Town, along the main airport road. Recently, in 2024, we launched Ciao Nungwi, located right on the beach, followed by our first restaurant on mainland Tanzania, Ciao Masaki.
While our ovens and some cold cuts are imported from Italy, we follow a philosophy of using local produce wherever possible. We produce our own tipo 00 flour and run two micro dairies, where we make our own mozzarella fior di latte and ricotta from fresh, local milk.
We believe that to make great pizza, you don’t have to be Italian—but you do need passion. And we have plenty of that! We love pizza!
